Studio Picknick is pleased to present Boris Guschlbauer with his show „Tickets, please!“. After his show „Asien schläft / Asia sleeps“ in 2015 it’s his second Soloshow at Studio Picknick.

Almost two decades’ worth of tickets accumulated and collected by Boris Guschlbauer (*1973 in Esslingen, Germany) retrace the traveller’s global steps and reveal the many stages of his life, on display for all to see. Guschlbauer’s journey starts in 1998 with a Königssee crossing and continues all the way up to the present: on trains, planes, busses and shared Jeeps, passing countless of cities and villages in Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. Ordered by date, these tickets offer intriguing glimpses of a life on the road and into the psyche of a restless spirit. At the same time, each ticket has its very own appeal and attraction, bearing the unique traces and patina of the respective trip’s time, setting and duration. Age might lend one a faded yellow hue and tint, transport has added creases and wrinkles to another, stamps and tears tell of human intervention, while some specimens remain almost pristine. Taken together, all tickets on exhibit epitomise the journey of life itself. When observers let their imagination roam, beyond a ticket’s stated event and intent, this unlocks additional perceptual realms of colours, smells, sounds, souls and fates. Each example on display embodies and exudes a sense of adventure, a destination, a phase of life, an exotic escape; it represents what’s unknown, unknowable or uncertain – as well as the people who populate these near and far-flung places. For the duration of the exhibition, Studio Picknick’s 40 square metres expand to embrace the entire world – and become a true melting pot of adventures.

Der Reisende Boris Guschlbauer (*1973 in Esslingen, Deutschland) zeigt anhand seiner über fast zwei Jahrzehnte gesammelter Fahrkarten den Weg durch die Welt und entblättert vor dem Betrachter die zahlreichen Etappen seines Lebens. Die Reise startet im Jahre 1998 mit einer Fahrt über den Königssee und geht weiter mit Zügen, Bussen, Sammeljeeps und Flugzeugen über zahlreiche Städte und Dörfer in Asien, Afrika, Südamerika und Europa bis in die Gegenwart. Zeitlich geordnet bekommt man einen Einblick in ein Leben unterwegs und in die Psyche eines unruhigen Geistes. Jede einzelne Fahrkarte hat dabei ihren ganz besonderen Reiz: Durch die Dauer der jeweiligen Reise hat jede Karte eine ganz eigene Patina verliehen bekommen. So haben die Jahre eine Fahrkarte leicht vergilbt, der Transport eine andere zerknittert, manche Fahrkarten sind gestempelt, eingerissen, oder fast noch unberührt. So versinnbildlicht die Ausstellung die Reise des Lebens an sich. Lässt der Betrachter dabei seine Fantasie spielen und nimmt die Geschehnisse hinter den Fahrkarten in Augenschein, eröffnen sich Welten von Farben, Gerüchen, Geräuschen, Menschenseelen und Schicksalen. Jede einzelne Fahrkarte verkörpert so das Abenteuer, steht für das jeweilige Ziel, ist stellvertretend für ein Abschnitt des Lebens, für Exotik, das Ungewisse, und die Menschen, die diese Ziele bewohnen. Somit wächst das Studio Picknick mit seinen 40 Quadratmetern während der Dauer der Ausstellung auf die Größe der Welt und wird zum Schmelztiegel des Abenteuers.
